Local Wisdom

These are some examples of artwork from a friend and amazing artist, Kathleen Sawyer. She creates her beautiful stuff sitting in bed with a giant pair of scissors, snipping things that catch her fancy and than putting them back together in an inspirational comment on one thing or another.  Wherever I've lived or traveled, I've always taken some of her work in greeting card-form to hang on the wall.  It always speaks to me when I needed it most.

2-D to me

 

This is a picture of my office/art room ("me" space), and most importantly, my bulletin board.  It is covered in photos, notes, art work, mementos, business cards, quotes, and so on...I feel like in some chaotic way, it brings my life together in a format that appears arbitrarily but for some reason works.  It is all centered around a huge map of where I work in Alaska, which is ironic (or not?), as I feel like it is kind of a map of my life as well.
